6.11.08 - Rise On The Road: Thanks Knoxville, IA
Samarah

Thank you to Knoxville IA for welcoming Rise Ministries into your community!

Last week June 5-8 we took forty people down to Knoxville for a service leadership opportunity.  There were many adventrues along the way including the bus breaking down for a hour and a half at a Food Pride!  It turned out to be a great bonding opportunity for the team.  We also encountered some severe weather that first night which meant getting up at 1am and chillin in the bathrooms (tornado shelters). Yet, somehow none of these things got this amazing team down.

Friday the kids and leaders worked on four projects all day.  The students were exhausted and hot, yet they kept pressing on.  Their dedication was inspiring.  It was beautiful to see these kids give their all for the Knoxville community.  When they worshiped that night you could see the impact of what they had done that day in them.

Saturday the kids finished up their ambitious projects and headed out to the festival Rise Ministries held for the community to partake in.  Nearly three hundred people came to the festival throughout the day to see the professional skateboarding crew, listen to great music from Addison Road and The Afters, and to play on the inflatables and get a face painting.

It was a magical night for everyone there.  God was present in all his glory as people praised God through music and speaker Rob Roozeboom's words.  We were blessed with a beautiful night for the show, and thanks be to God for that.

Words cannot explain what looking at the fire that burns in those kids was like.  Their joy and love for Christ spilled from them in all they did, and the community could see it.  It was a special moment when four students shared their hearts with the crowd at the festival, and again that morning at church.

God was able to work through these kids in ways unimaginable.  There is no doubt that the city of Knoxville was touched by their outpoor of love.  These kids did something great, but hopefully the love for that community doesn't end there.  The prayer is that Knoxville will now come together and continue what was started during Rise On The Road.

Stay tunned for more information as Rise Ministries is preparing for another Rise On The Road in another community that needs to feel that same love.

Grace & Peace
